MAYOR BUDDY DYER TO ADDRESS OVER THREE THOUSAND PEOPLE AT END OF RAMADAN CELEBRATION IN ORLANDO
Orlando, FL June 4th, 2019- Central Florida’s Eid Orlando will observe the end of Ramadan with the Eid Orlando Prayer and Family Celebration today, Tuesday June 4th at the Orange County Convention Center. This year, Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer will attend Eid Orlando for the first time, where he will address over three thousand people attending this family celebration, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan at 9:00 AM. "I am proud that Orlando is a city that values our diversity and people from different faith traditions. Orlando is enriched by the significant and lasting contributions of our Muslim-American community. Eid Orlando is an event that celebrates their culture, achievements, and success in all aspects of society, including business, education, law, the arts, and sciences” said Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer.
Sixty thousand American Muslims in the Orlando area spent the last month in prayer, fasting and community service to neighbors in need here in Central Florida.

Eid Orlando is expected to be the largest Ramadan celebration in Central Florida. "As we exit the Holy month of Ramadan-- a month of reflection -- we walk away recharged and filled with steadfastness. Ready to re-commit to serving God and our communities with patience, love, and justice. And today, we celebrate Eid Al Fitr through prayer and rejoice with our neighbors. Eid Orlando is a space where we can do just that, provide all of that and more for families across Central Florida ”- Rasha Mubarak, Eid Orlando Board Director.
The celebration will be held today June 4th at the West Concourse of the Orange County Convention Center. Doors open at 8 AM and the celebration will last until 2 PM. The event will feature prayer, food, and fun in a family setting.
Eid Orlando is a non-profit 501(c)3 organization dedicated to uniting the Central Florida Muslim community for a festive, family-friendly Eid prayer and celebration. Eid Orlando is organized by a partnership of local Muslim institutions and organizations, through the generosity of business and individual sponsors. The event includes Eid prayer, activities for the kids, a bazaar, and food vendors all at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida. Eid Orlando envisions a community where every Muslim is welcome and able to participate in an exemplary celebration of Eid. Eid Orlando’s mission is to provide Muslims inclusive and exceptional Eid programs that promote diversity and a sense of community.
